Guide to Preserving Our Architectural Heritage
One of the objectives of the Victor Heritage Society is to sponsor heritage education programs that help residents, as well as the general public, appreciate and preserve Victor's historic architecture.
To this end, Victor Heritage Society distributes a free booklet entitled Victor, Colorado: The City of Mines with Architecture Worth Preserving, An Informational Guide to Preserving Our Architectural Heritage. Click on image of the booklet title page to the left to view and print a PDF copy of the booklet. To obtain a free printed copy of the booklet, contact Vera Pratt at the Victor City Hall or the Victor Heritage Society. The fourteen page booklet focuses on the historic residential architecture of Victor. It provides photographs and brief descriptions of Victor's historic residential architectural styles (check to see if your house fits one of these) and their character-defining features--building shapes and materials, roof forms, porches, doors and entries, windows, decorative elements, etc. The booklet also includes suggestions for preserving these character-defining features. |
Other issues addressed in the booklet are renovation projects that involve additions to historic structures, and out-buildings such as garages. Criteria for designing modern construction compatible for infill within historic Victor neighborhoods are also discussed.
